Lalor Park was largely built by the NSW Housing Commission from the late 1950s onward, and it shows in the streets. Post-war detached houses on standard blocks still dominate, with some of that original fibro and brick-veneer stock renovated or knocked down and rebuilt over the years.

Freeman Street and Northcott Road front some of the oldest of that housing, close to where the local shops sit. Streets like these are usually where a root-choked line turns up first, before it's spread anywhere else.
